As the new year begins, everything is renewed. On the afternoon of January 5th, President Zhang Zongyi and his delegation visited the Institute to conduct a research and discussion meeting on academic construction. The leadership team of the institute, academic leaders, faculty members, engineering and administrative staff representatives attended the meeting. The discussion was chaired by the Party Secretary of the institute, Liao Zhidan. Prior to the start of the discussion, Dean Hong Minghui accompanied President Zhang Zongyi and his delegation on a tour of the micro-nano processing and testing instrument sharing platform, some laboratories, and the institute's history museum.
Vice President Zhou Wei of the Research Institute gave a work report on academic restructuring, faculty development, scientific innovation, talent cultivation, and exchange cooperation, and proposed development ideas for the next phase. He stated that the institute will focus on national strategic needs and local economic development, concentrate on the fields of micro-nano manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing, and strive for excellence in scientific research organization, team building, talent cultivation, social service, and strategic cooperation. The goal is to make the mechanical engineering discipline world-class as soon as possible and accelerate the revival of Xiamen University's engineering disciplines. Academic leaders and faculty representatives shared their experiences and insights, and offered suggestions based on their work, life, and growth.
President Zhang Zongyi expressed that the development of the research institute has exceeded expectations since the restructuring, with rapid progress in all aspects of work, a very good atmosphere, and dedicated faculty and staff who have done an excellent job. On behalf of the university, he expressed gratitude to everyone. He hopes that the research institute will continue to maintain a good development trend, focus on major projects and tasks, accelerate the conversion of scientific research results, strengthen service to local economic construction, and build its own brand, with the university's full support.
